A RECENT trip to America certainly seemed to rejuvenate Peter Savage as he was crowned the Bright Castle Golf Club Match-play champion for 2024 last Tuesday evening (23 July).

Having accounted for Eamon Kelly, Sean O’Hare, his dad Brendan, Donal Smith and Mark Quinn en route to the final, Damian Oakes was Peter’s opponent in the decider and in receipt of four shots, he was the slight favourite to lift this year’s title.

There was very little to separate the duo over the opening 11 holes of the contest but a sudden injection of wins from then on saw Peter clinch a three and two victory with a win at the 16th hole. A huge congratulations to him and commiserations to runner-up Damian.
