Singer Shane Morgan is delighted to be performing in Rostrevor on Saturday night in what will be his first concert at home in a year and a half.

The Rostrevor performer has just completed a run in the show Seven Drunken Nights: The Story of the Dubliners, and is excited to perform in front of a home crowd. He explained why it felt like the right time to have a gig at home: “I have been so lucky to be touring quite extensively over the last year with shows, but I absolutely love to get home to Rostrevor for some downtime with family and friends. I am home until October and thought it was perfect timing.”

He said that he hopes to make this Saturday’s show unique. “I will be performing some of my original material and songs the audience would associate with me. This concert will be an eclectic mix, from musical theatre to country and folk. There will be something to draw a tear and paint a smile.”

Shane said singing in Rostrevor is different than anywhere else in the world. “Performing at home is a pure joy. To be honest, I would be more nervous performing in front of a home crowd as opposed to a West End theatre. Because they know me and I them. But it is always the most special of concerts. The room is always filled with love and so much energy! I haven’t had a concert at home in about a year and a half as I’ve been abroad with work. The last concert was electric! It’s addictive. There is no crowd like a home crowd!”

Shane has been on tour with Seven Drunken Nights: The Story of the Dubliners, in which he plays the part of the Narrator. “I weave the story of their beginnings and ups and downs of what was an incredible career. Such a fun yet moving piece of theatre.”

Looking ahead, Shane added: “In October I start rehearsals for Fairytale for Christmas, touring England (including the West End), Scotland and Wales. I had the amazing privilege of touring with this show last year also. We covered a lot of ground — the UK and America including Broadway. It was an amazing experience. One I am terribly grateful for.”

Shane Morgan’s concert takes place on Saturday night at 7.30pm in St Bronagh’s GAA, Rostrevor.
