A 15-year-old from Longstone has challenged herself to run 100 miles in October for charity because she felt compelled to make a difference.

Farrah Vincent is raising money for Young Lives vs Cancer and is appealing for generous donations from the public to help her achieve her goal. She has already far exceeded her initial target of £200 by raising over £900.

“I decided to take on this challenge because I wanted to do something that really makes a difference,” Farrah said. “Young Lives vs Cancer supports children and young people who are facing cancer, as well as their families, and I think that’s such an important cause. Running every day might not always be easy, but it’s nothing compared to what those young people go through.”

Farrah lives with her father Stevie in Longstone and is currently completing her 100-mile challenge in short bursts—running a few miles each day throughout the 31 days of October. She has shared some of her runs on the Young Lives vs Cancer website, including one around the village of Annalong.

“I’m planning to split the miles across the month, running a few miles each day, and I’ll be sharing my progress along the way. I know it’s going to be tough, especially with school and homework, but I’m determined to keep going because every step I take helps raise awareness and money for an amazing charity,” she explained.

Farrah added: “If you’d like to support me, please consider donating – even the smallest amount can make a big difference. Thank you so much for cheering me on and helping me reach 100 miles for Young Lives vs Cancer! Even if you can’t give a donation, please share the link and help me help Young Lives vs Cancer raise as much money as possible. I am nearly at £1,000 of donations and would love to see how far the kind folk of Mourne can take this.”

At the time of writing, Farrah had run 41 miles and raised £911.74.
