MOURNE All Blacks boxer Ryan Williams showed his undoubted talent against an impressive pugilist in Eoin Travers, at the recent Armagh/Down Championships.

Aggression and an abundance of skill were the order of the day, both lads showed tremendous respect for each other, both during and after the contest, with the All Blacks boxer William’s hand being raised against the boxer from Camlough.

Cáolam Smith boxed recently in the Holy Trinity promotion against local boxer Martin Purcell. It was another brilliant contest, with Smith using a very cagey stance to bamboozle the lunging attacks of Purcell.

Purcell fought back well though to nip a very close verdict. This bout was one of the best on the bill.

With four bouts on the St Bronagh’s promotion, and another two on the Rathfriland bill, the All Blacks are stepping up their training to ensure they do themselves justice in both events.
Jason Loughran had his first bout in the square ring against Sean Óg Shields from the Sacred Heart club in Newry.

This bout was categorised by bunches of flurries from both combatants. A very tall lad, Sean Óg showed his ring craftiness by keeping an aggressive Jason at bay.

In what was a very hard tussle and a very close encounter, Shields managed to tip the scales in his favour. However, it was an excellent performance from the All-Blacks boxer in his first appearance.
