AHEAD of their Ulster Intermediate Championship bid, Saul are taking a cautious approach to the competition.

Manager Ryan Kelly, said that fitness will be key to getting past quarter-final opponents Fr Rock’s from Cookstown. So he has been careful to manage the players’ workload ever since the county final a few weeks ago.

He said, “We are four years down the line, we have had extended seasons each year. We have went to the end of October each year. It is a good thing but we have got to respect the demands that are put on the players.

“There are demands from university teams and things like that, so we have to be mindful.

“But in saying that, they keep coming and applying themselves.”

However, most of the work that needs to be done, has already been carried out. Their training has kept them up to speed throughout the year, and after four years of playing together, the Saul girls know what to do to win.

“The big thing is we have established the way we play football. Doing anything to change that would be detrimental to the team.”

In the full article the manager talks about how they must adopt the right attitude going into the Ulster competition.
