While most seven-year-olds are concerned with the important issues of homework and working out their favourite flavour of Haribo, St Mary’s Primary School pupil Evie Travers has been focused on racing her quad bike.

The Newcastle girl achieved the first major success of her early career when she was recently crowned Youth Year 1 50cc class champion in this year’s Ulster Junior Quad and Sidecar Championships. After finishing third in the same competition last year, Evie topped the 2025 leaderboard after nine rounds of racing, which took place from April to September.

Evie’s love for racing started at the age of three when her dad, Conor, bought her first quad bike, and she’s been competing competitively for the past two years, steadily improving along the way.

And there’s sure to be more exciting times ahead for Newcastle’s young motorsport sensation as she moves up to the 100cc quad class next season, which begins in April 2026.
