STAFF at Castlewellan Forest Park have been left ‘absolutely devastated’ by the damage inflicted by Storm Éowyn.

Almost a fortnight on from when the ‘danger to life’ storm tore across the country, decimating landscape property and infrastructure, the sprawling and historic park remains closed to the public.

On Monday evening, at a meeting of the local council which manages sections of the site, its chief executive Marie Ward acknowledged that a lot of work will be required to get the park fully reopened.

In the full piece it is explained when the reopening of the park may occur. See the full story in the current issue of the Mourne Observer.
