DUNNAMAN manager Ryan McMillan says he’s “not surprised” his side have got off to a flyer in the opening months of the season.
After losing the first game of the campaign against Ballyholland in round one of the Mid Ulster FA Gerald Kennedy Cup, the Mourne men have won seven out of nine games played in all competitions.
Their superb run of form continued with a 7-1 league win over Gilford Crusaders on Saturday.
“It’s always tricky at the start of the season, with the business end of the Gaelic (championship), so obviously we weren’t at full strength.
“But the quality’s there and there’s great belief within the squad, so I’m not surprised to see our boys doing what they’re doing so far”, McMillan explained.
McMillan, who also coaches the Dunnaman reserve team, says getting his squad back to full strength after the conclusion of the Down GAA Championship is “massive” and explained that although his team is young, it’s full of experience.
“Our senior squad is very strong, it’s full of youth and full of talent, and they’re becoming more experienced, this is their fifth competitive year together.
“Although you have the likes of Ryan Mackey and Shane McDowell, who are still only 22, it’s their fifth year playing senior football, which is impressive.”
In the full story Ryan explains how their style of play, the players and attitude have got Dunnaman to where they are in the league.
