DROMARA teenager Carter Mooney competed in the Motorsport Ireland Senior Rotax Max Karting Championship for 2024.
Carter moved up to the Senior category after winning the TKC Junior Max Championship in 2023.
Aged just 15 years old, he is the youngest driver in the Senior class, making this an incredible achievement at such a young age in a major championship.
He kicked off his championship this year with steady results north and south of the boarder, racing at Nutts Corner Circuit in County Antrim and Kiltorcan Kart Circuit, County Kilkenny.
With it being a learning year for Carter in the Senior class, he soon realised that after three to four rounds, he was starting to win races and was now a major contender for a top three position in the championship.
A great summer season brought more wins and podium results. Carter went to the last round of the Motorsport Ireland Championship at Whiteriver Park (County Louth) recently to try and clinch the title.
With two second places in the heats, a first in the pre-final and a second in the final, he was crowned Irish champion.
This fantastic result from the young County Down man could not have happened without the support of his long-time sponsor, Foltec Engineering, engine tuner and team manager, DMS Kart Team, and his mum, dad and big brother.
Roll on 2025, when Carter hopes to be racing in the World Finals.
