Over £100,000 in National Lottery Funding Awarded to Local Charities and Groups

Charities and groups across the district have benefitted from the latest round of National Lottery funding. Ten organisations are sharing a cash windfall of over £100,000 through the Community Fund.

One of the organisations receiving funding is Newcastle’s Search and Rescue Dog Association (Ireland North). This specialist team has used its £20,000 grant to purchase an off-road vehicle to support the delivery of their search and rescue services.

Other local beneficiaries include Dundrum Village Association, which has been allocated a £15,000 grant to organise a Viking-themed summer festival this August. Legananny Accordion Band has also received £19,900 to carry out improvements to their hall, making the building more accessible for community use. Planned work includes replacing flooring and addressing issues with damp and wet rot.
