AHEAD of their Intermediate Hurling Championship clash with Carryduff, who played in the senior championship this year, Warrenpoint enlisted the help of one of the biggest names in the game, Liam Cahill.

“The capability to be at the top. There is no reason why they cannot move to senior at some point.”

One of the ways that he has sought to tap into that ambition was to bring up hurling legend Liam Cahill to the club. The former Tipperary player, who managed his county to an All-Ireland title this year, took a training session to prepare the team for their semi-final against Carryduff.

“We had Liam Cahill come up just for extra preparations. That gives the players in the club a bit of a boost when they see the likes of Liam Cahill come up.”

Colm is keen to bring as much experience to the club because he can see their ambition. “The club seems to be forward thinking in terms of underage structures. They seem to be pushing hurling at underage level. They have great backing from the community.”
