EMMET and Geraldine Malone, together with their family, friends and supporters, raised an incredible £24,589 in memory of their son, Wee James, through the Wee James Tractor Run in Leitrim.
The money raised was formally presented to Seamus McCabe MBE, chief executive officer of PIPS Hope and Support, at a cheque presentation held on Friday, 31 July.
The tractor run was a marvellous day for the whole community, made even more enjoyable by the fantastic weather. Large crowds filled the fields throughout the day and enjoyed the many activities on offer.
The wonderful turnout reflected the strong community spirit and the tremendous support shown to the Malone family and PIPS Hope and Support.
The event brought people together to remember Wee James while raising vital funds and awareness for suicide prevention and mental health support.
Seamus McCabe said: “On behalf of everyone at PIPS Hope and Support, I would like to express our sincere thanks to Emmet and Geraldine, the Malone family, their friends, the participants, volunteers, sponsors and everyone who supported the Wee James Tractor Run.
“Raising £24,589 is an outstanding achievement and a wonderful demonstration of what can be accomplished when a community comes together.
“This generous donation will help us continue providing vital support to individuals and families experiencing emotional distress, suicidal thoughts or bereavement by suicide.
“We are deeply grateful to the Malone family and everyone involved for choosing to support PIPS Hope and Support and for helping us ensure that people across our communities do not have to face difficult times alone.”
PIPS Hope and Support provides crisis intervention, counselling, family support, suicide-bereavement support and mental health training throughout the community.
The charity extends its heartfelt thanks to the Malone family, everyone who supported the Wee James Tractor Run and the wider Leitrim community for their extraordinary generosity and kindness.
